Karlanya Nangala Oloughlin was born in Adelaide, on Kaurna Yerta (land) in the early 90s to her Narungga/Kaurna mother and Warlpiri Father. Karlanya Grew up closely with her mother’s grandfather (Kevin Oloughlin) who taught her about their culture and how to live off Country. Karlanya draws her inspiration from the natural structures and colours of nature, incorporating Coastal elements from her Narungga side and desert elements from her Warlpiri side into her works.
