Come and join Sammy and make a purple feather flower in recognition of Sorry Day
On the 26 of May each year First Nations peoples remember and acknowledge the Stolen Generations on National Sorry Day.
The colour purple is often associated with Sorry Day. This is the colour of the Native Hibiscus flower used by Stolen Generations survivors to recognise their strength and resilience and as a symbol of compassion and healing.
Baluk Arts will be holding a feather flower workshop on Friday 22nd May to commemorate this significant day. We hope you can join us.
Come and listen to the stories from our First Nations artists and make a beautiful feather flower to take home.
This workshop will be facilitated by Taungwurrung Cultural Educator and Artist Sammy Trist. Her art is a living reflection of her deep connection to country. She brings Kulin stories and landscapes to life through her multidisciplinary practice.
All materials an instruction will be provided. Cost to attend is $60.
While you’re there, enjoy Australian native infused teas by Jala Jala Treats.
Attendance is welcome for adults and children aged 15+.
