Born in Adelaide, on Kaurna Yerta land in the early 90s to a Narungga/Kaurna mother and a Warlpiri Father. Karlanya grew up closely with her mother’s grandfather in (Kevin Oloughlin) who taught her about their culture and how to live off Country. Karlanya draws her inspiration from the natural structures and colours of nature, incorporating the both coastal elements from her Narungga side and desert elements from her Warlpiri side into her works.
